The actual date of Christ?s birth is unknown.
As Christianity spread across Europe, the celebration of Christmas also combined with the Norse pagan celebration known as Yule, or the Winter Solstice. This festival was held on the shortest day of the year, to commemorate the return of the sun, and the symbolic death of the old year and birth of the new. The tradition of the burning of the Yule log, still popular particularly in Europe, comes from this ancient custom.
Christmas traditions have developed and changed throughout many centuries, and continue to do so today. Much of the joy of Christmas comes from imagination, creativity, and finding new and exciting ways to celebrate the season, particularly for children.
Although some Christmas traditions have roots dating back thousands of years, many of the more familiar ones have much more recent origins. The custom of celebrating Christmas only began to be adopted in North America in the 19th Century.
The Christmas tree
One of the most important Christmas traditions is the Christmas tree. The tree is the centerpiece for our Christmas decorating, and we place our gifts under it, so it becomes a kind of focal point for our expressions of the Christmas spirit in the home.
There are many legends which explain the religious and spiritual significance of evergreen trees, linked to both Pagan and Christian traditions.

Inventor Dyson takes massive pay cut
0 Comments | Journal (Newcastle, England), The, Nov 7, 2009
VACUUM cleaner mogul Sir James Dyson saw his salary slashed last year as profits slid at his technology firm when the recession took its toll on the firm.
The multi-millionaire inventor’s pounds 457,000 pay packet for 2008 pales in comparison with the pounds 12.5m he took for the previous year, according to the company’s annual report.
Sir James, who became a household name after launching his bagless vacuum, took the steep pay cut as pre-tax profits at his company fell 4% to pounds 85.3m in the 12 months to December 31, although turnover grew 2.8% to pounds 628m in the period, while research and development spending was 6% lower at pounds 49m.
But Sir James, who has been named as the Conservatives’ technology tsar, said research was the firm’s life blood and would continue.
During the year the firm launched a new vacuum that steers on a ball instead of wheels.
The firm said it became the UK’s best-selling vacuum within a month. It also created the Air Multiplier fan which operates without blades or a grille.
“By investing in long-term research and development, we’ve been able to keep launching new technologies,” Sir James said.
The firm, which said it had boosted the number of engineers it employs globally to 500, plans to continue expanding into new markets including South America.

This depends on the language spoken, but for English letters this typically means around 150 characters (Chinese and Japanese letters are limited to 70).
Quite recently, however, new developments in the technology have allowed for even longer messages to be sent. Long or Concatenated SMS is a development that allows multiple messages to be combined to form a single message. In effect, what happens is that your phone actually sends out a few smaller messages and then the receiving phone simply compiles those messages so that for users on both ends, it appears as though the message were cohesive. While there are some limitations, the brilliance behind SMS is that because there is no need for central hubs, and thus the system can be expanded indefinitely without any concerns of it slowing down or becoming more expensive.
The most common form of SMS is ?texting?. This usually takes place with a cellular phone in which individuals use the letters behind the number pad on their phone to spell out words and phrases and then send them out. Because many companies charge by the word, individuals have come up with a sort of ?texting slang? to cut down on the amount of words required to convey a particular message.

The child
with inattentive ADD may be viewed as a space cadet, but this may not
become prevalent until later years. A child who is impulsive may
be viewed as a behavior problem, while a child who is quiet and spacey
will be viewed as lazy and unmotivated. But, these are both ADD
even though they look very different. Because there are so many
variations in ADD and what it looks like, it can difficult to
diagnosis. And the longer you go without being diagnosed, the
more complex ADD starts to look.
Signs of hyperactivity/impulsivity are restlessness, distractibility,
interrupting and saying things without thinking and being excessively
physical. As a child gets older, the impulsivity side of their ADD will
take a more damaging toll if not dealt with. Impulsive ADDers tend to
get into drugs, break the law and do other destructive things at an
earlier age.
Signs of inattention are getting easily distracted, making careless
mistakes, becoming easily disorganized, the inability to follow
directions correctly and poor follow-through. Also, inattentive
ADDers become bored easily which leads to task switching.

What you bring into a relationship. Your interests, hobbies, what makes you good company, what you bring into the relationship. Pour your heart out. And use action words. Give them something to make them remember your ad.
There are things you should avoid. Among them trite, canned expressions and overused clich?s. I can’t bear to read another “looking for my knight in shinning armor” type of personal ad. Neither can you, I presume.
Study other peoples’ personal profiles. If an ad catches your eye attempt to find out what makes it interesting. Model yours on these, but please don’t copy directly. Take your time and do it right.
Be honest. Be sincere. Don’t exaggerate and don’t fake. Above all, don’t lie.
When you are done writing, take a break. Let your draft personal profile seat for a while (even a day or two). Then come back with a fresh mind and begin editing. Make corrections on spelling and grammar. Cut clutter.

Time to name foundation fellows
American Music Teacher, August-Sept, 2010 by Susan Todd
Now is the time to decide whom your state will honor by naming him or her an MTNA FOUNDATION Fellow. MTNA’s goal is to have each and every state affiliate name a FOUNDATION Fellow, whether it’s a beloved teacher, former state president or other leader. Local associations are also encouraged to name Fellows.
The Fellow program offers a meaningful method for honoring deserving individuals while supporting the efforts of the MTNA FOUNDATION FUND through a donation to the FOUNDATION FUND in an individual’s name.
Designating a Fellow is easy. Simply send a contribution of $1,000 or more, along with a completed MTNA Fellow Information Form to MTNA. The form is available on the FOUNDATION website at vvww.mtnafoundation.org or by contacting national headquarters at (888) 512-5278. The funds may come from one individual’s donation or from a group of persons wishing to confer this special honor upon a colleague. Please note that the Fellow distinction may not be established in the contributor’s own name

Here are some ways to do it.
1. As far as possible, keep unpleasant smells away from the house or at least away from the main living areas. Ask family members to leave smelly shoes outside. Ban smoking in your house. Make sure the toilet door is always closed. Empty the rubbish bin frequently.
2. Use sweet-smelling products while cleaning. Put talcumn powder on the carpet before vacuming. Put a drop of your favourite essential oil in buckets of water used to clean the floor. Make up your own cleaning products and add some of your favourite smells.
3. Keep a candle or an oil burner in every single room and use them. Burn some incense sticks.
4. Keep clothes sweet smelling by putting slices of soap between them. Add a drop of your favourite essential oil to the laundry.
5. Open windows as much as possible through the day. Plant flowers or sweet smelling shrubs near windows so that their scent carries indoors. Keep a vase of fresh flowers in the house.
6. Cook often. Cook things that smell nice: bread, biscuits, tasty stews. If you don’t have the time to make them from scratch, buy packet mixtures.

Especially if you’ve noticed people offline talking about it, it’s probably really reliable. Big sites, like Amazon, have great reputations- and will probably lead to a safer purchase.
If the product you want resides in a “niche” and isn’t exactly mainstream, you may not have heard any mentions of where you could go. If this is the situation you find yourself in, you do have some more options. If you’re willing to spend the time, try to find a forum on the particular subject you’re interested in. Read around, someone’s sure to mention a nice place to get those products. Just because a store isn’t as large as Amazon doesn’t mean it won’t be as well established for being reliable inside your particular “genre” of stores.
If you want to go a quicker route, try Google’s search, or even their new price comparison tool Froogle.
Making Sure You’ve Picked a Safe Store
There are a number of things you should absolutely check for before spending money online. First, is there any contact info on the site? Make sure there’s a phone number as well.
